Teeth Time Dental Clinic

Talingchan, Bangkok, Thailand
300 sq.m.

‘Teeth Time’ derives its name from ‘Tea Time’ an afternoon break, a relaxing moment.

Located on the outskirts of Bangkok, this standalone clinic offers its patients and dentists what shophouse clinics cannot : Open Spaces. The central courtyard makes sure natural light gets into every interior corner. The front plaza gives the oversized lobby a panoramic quality while offering a distance away from the high-speed traffic on Prannok - Buddhamontonn Road. Panoramic windows line themselves around these open spaces, filling the interior with natural lights and garden view, its 2.00 meter height carefully control the vista, not too much of the outside, not too much of the inside.

There is a diagonal line dividing the courtyard equally into two triangles, a rock and a bush garden. Above them floats a circular cutaway which distribute natural light evenly into each corner. The Samed tree lies there in the middle with its distinctive gentle branches, completely cancel the rigidity of geometric lines and shapes which form interior functions. When sunlight and breezes gently touch those branches, the whole open space gently resonates, or perhaps, sing.

Dental activities are often considered scary. Although Teeth Time offers what can be considered the opposite, it is not intentionally designed as an escape, but as an afternoon filled with peace. Like what one might need on a cold, rainy day - a warm-enough sunlight, a relaxing moment, a pause.

cup of tea, anyone?
